THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M.S. Mani, the former editor-in-chief of Keralakaumudi, was honoured with the 2018 Swadeshabhimani-Kesari award. The award will include a sculpture designed by Kanayi Kunjiraman and a certificate with a cash prize of Rs One Lakh.
Mani was recognized for the highest media honour of Kerala govt for his active involvement as a senior in the media sector.
He was born in 1941 in Kollam as the eldest son of founder editor K. Sukumaran and Madhavi Sukumaran. After securing a BSc degree from University College in Thiruvananthapuram, M.S. Mani began his life as a journalist as a staff reporter in Keralakaumudi. He was noted for the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha reporting in 1962. After returning to Thiruvananthapuram in 1965, Mani lead the editorial department of Keralakaumudi for a long time.
Mani has worked as a committee member in the Indian Newspaper Society and a member of the India Newspaper Editor’s Conference. He was also honoured with Ambedkar and Kesari awards.
The award was decided by a panel consisting of State Information Commissioner K.V. Sudhakaran, Chairman and PRD Director U.V. Jose, convener Vidhu Vincent and Jinesh Kumar Eramam.
