PALAKKAD: One of the accused in the Walayar rape case, was attacked by a mob here. M Madhu, the fourth accused in the case, was attacked by a group of people following a verbal spat in Attappalam on Saturday. He was injured and admitted to a hospital here.

A court had acquitted the accused including Madhu in the POCSO case of two sisters in Walayar for want of evidence a month ago. The sisters were found dead. There were widespread protests all over Kerala and on social media against the negligence and lapses that occurred from part of the investigation officials.

The mob attack on the accused in the Walayar case comes a day after the police encounter of the four accused in the Hyderabad rape-murder case on Friday.
