THIRUVAMBADI: A three-member Maoist team on Sunday reached the Muthappan river area near the forest. By about 8 pm, they arrived at the house of a person called Thurakkal Jojo and introduced themselves as Maoists.

At that time in the house, there were Jojo, his wife, mother and two children. The asked for food, had it and left the house with food parcels by about 10:30 pm.

The household members said the visitors were Malayalam-speaking people; they talked to them freely and distributed pamphlets among the family members.

Thiruvambadi police have started inquiry into the incident. The police have also identified two of them- Soman and Santhosh.
The third person is suspected to be Nandakumar.

The pamphlet titled ‘Kanalpatha’ distributed by the Maosits were the ones that harshly criticised the State government and the CPM.
