PATHANAPURAM: Reports suggest that the student who went missing from Pathanapuram along with an MBBS student has left to join the ISIS. Punalur police have initiated an investigation regarding this. It was the parents of Naufal Naseer, a second-year B.Com student of Fathima Matha college, who informed the police that their son has been missing since November 26.
Though the initial investigation failed to provide any breakthrough, some neighbours hinted about Naufal leaving the country for joining the ISIS. Naufal's mother too provided certain information regarding this and this made the police suspect about Naufal's ISIS links. Police said that the investigation has been expanded to several other states. According to Naufal's mother, Naufal recently developed a friendship with a student who is studying abroad.
Upon further investigation, police identified Naufal's friend as an MBBS student who hails from Irinjalakkuda. It is learnt that the youth had recently returned from Italy after dropping his course. Naufal's mother also stated that the friend used to persuade Naufal to join for MBA abroad.
Naufal went missing on November 26 after he left home in the name of going to college. Upon checking the CCTV footage, Naufal was seen boarding the Mangala Express from Ernakulam railway station. His phone was last located near Pattambi later that evening. Though he is suspected to have left the country, his family does not know about Naufal possessing a passport.
