MUMBAI: Former IAS official Kannan Gopinathan, who was detained by the Mumbai police, was released from custody minutes later. Earlier, hundreds of student activists had gathered around the police station demanding the release of the former IAS officer.

Upon his release, Gopinathan posted a strong message against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. 'Araria today. It is just beginning Mr @AmitShah. Understand this country and its strength is beyond your mental comprehension & 2nd-grade level crookedness. #Resistance #NoToCAB #NoToNRC ,' he wrote on his Twitter page.
