KOCHI: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan Monday said the protests staged against citizenship law should not turn violent. Violence is not a solution for anything and nobody has the right to take law into their own hands. Everyone has the right to disagree and protest democratically, he said.

‘Organizations can express dissent. The doors of the Raj Bhavan will be opened. If there are any differences of opinion, I am ready to hear and discuss it. If protests turn violent it will affect the people. So, violence will not be accepted and it is the duty of the police to curb it,’ the Governor said.

The Governor had yesterday expressed dissatisfaction on the statement of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan related to Citizenship Amendment Law. As per the constitution, everybody is indebted to follow the law passed by the center. The governor said politicians should opine on the statement of the chief minister. The chief minister had mentioned that the bill, which separates people on the basis of religion, will not be implemented in Kerala.
