KOLLAM: An elderly woman was brutally murdered by her daughter-in-law in Kollam. The deceased has been identified as Ramaniyamma(66), a native of Aambadi, Kollam.

According to sources, Ramaniyamma was taking a nap when her daughter-in-law Giritha attacked her using a rock covered in plastic cover. It was the neighbours who found Ramaniyamma lying in a pool of blood. Though she was soon taken to the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Ramaniyamma eventually succumbed to death.

Giritha, who was immediately arrested by the police, is currently lodged at the Attakulangara women's prison. The body of Ramaniyamma has been handed over to her family members after autopsy.
