KATTAPPANA: It has been discovered that a woman hailing from Kattappana has cheated several job seekers in the state in the name of job offers in Canada. The accused, identified as Annamma George, has gone into hiding.

The shocking news about the human trafficking crime surfaced when the jobseekers, who left the country using the fake visas provided by Annamma, got stranded in Qatar. It is learnt that most of these jobseekers managed to return back to Kerala due to the timely intervention by the Indian Embassy.

Soon after returning back, the victims had filed cases against Annamma and her company 'Express Visas' in various courts. Annamma soon fled the scene as the court rejected her anticipatory bail applications.

According to sources, Annamma had obtained over a total of Rs 3.50 crores from 66 people including women by offering jobs in Canada. Police said that Annamma is part of an international human trafficking chain that focuses on people in rural areas.
