MANGALURU: Latest report suggests that two persons were killed in police firing after clashes broke out in Mangaluru in connection with the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. It is learnt that the firing took place when a mob tried to attack a police station in Bunder.

While police have admitted that shots were fired in the air to disperse the protestors, they haven't confirmed the death of protestors due to bullet wounds.

The two deceased have been identified as Jaleel from Kudrolu and Latheef from Kanduka.

It must be noted that the police had imposed prohibitory orders in Mangaluru from December 18 to December 20.

Following the developments, curfew has been declared in the central subdivision of Mangaluru under five police station limits on Thursday.

Authorities have also announced a holiday to schools and colleges in Mangaluru city on Friday.
