KALPETTA: Three youngsters drowned in a river near Meppadi on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Nithin, Jithin Karthikeyan and Bijilal.

The youth were members of a six-member group from Kayamkulam who came for a visit to Wayanad.

According to sources, the accident occurred when the youth entered the deeper portion of the Chulikka river. Though rescue operations were launched immediately, the youth could not be saved.

The bodies of the deceased are currently kept at a private hospital in Meppadi.
