MANGALURU: As the violence during a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) resulted in the death of two people in Mangaluru, Karnataka Home Department suspended the internet for the next 48 hours in the city and Dakshina Kannada district.
Earlier, two persons were killed in police firing after clashes broke out in Bunder in Mangaluru.
Following the developments, a curfew was declared in the central subdivision of Mangaluru under five police station limits on Thursday.
Meanwhile, four districts of Kerala also received a security alert in the wake of the ongoing protest. It is learnt that the state police chief has issued a security alert to Kasargode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts.
