THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central government on Thursday gave approval to the Bus port project in Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from the Thiruvananthapuram bus port, the centre has also approved a bus port in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

The proposed bus port will come up in Eenchakkal. It is learnt that the centre has asked the state government to submit the blueprint of the bus port. Apart from the KSRTC buses, the bus port will have enough space to accommodate private buses, taxi cars, autorickshaws and traveller buses.

The project will also include the construction of new roads connecting the bus port with the airport, railway station and waterways. The centre will provide 40% financial assistance for the project.
