SABARIMALA: Sabarimala has now come under the cover of highly sensitive security blanket as most-modern security devices imported from America were installed here recently.
It is learnt that equipment worth Rs 3.5 crore was installed against the backdrop of threat to Sabarimala temple from terrorists.
A top police officer told Kerala Kaumudi that sophisticated devices, bomb squad, and trained army men are in Sabarimala and they are ready to meet any exigencies.
The security system includes metal detector, hand-held metal detector, mine sleeper, explosive detector, portable X-ray machine, Thermal Imaging Camera, X-ray baggage scanner, Non-linear junction detector, Bomb suit, Extension Mirror, Real-time viewng system and commando torch that can propagate light up to one kilometre.
Portable X-ray machines will be able to scan and defuse the explosive material detected by the Explosive detector. Thermal Imaging Camera has the ability to take snaps of hiding attacker after reading his body temperature.
Non-linear junction detector are used to detect beforehand explosives that are deployed using electirc arrangements.
Bomb suit weighs 110 kg. Fully-armed army men are conducting 24-hour patrolling in Sabarimala.
