KOTTAYAM: An old woman hacked her daughter-in-law ruthlessly after pepper granules she had stored in her home went missing. The woman who sustained serious injuries has been admitted to Idukki Medical College.

The incident took place at Upputhara at 9 am. The injured woman is Nadalkkal Jibin’s wife Semi (30). Upputhara CI K P Jaya Prasad has arrested accused Ani Amma (62).

The pepper harvest that was reaped on Saturday had disappeared from the storeroom. The woman got angry and in the verbal duel that ensued, Ani Amma attacked Semi.
