THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director Kamal came forward with a reply to BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan for criticising the film and cultural activists who had protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Is the meter to measure our patriotism in the hands of BJP and I didn’t know that he is walking with the meter to measure our patriotism, Kamal said.
‘He should not try to intimidate us. We are the citizens of this country. Did the filmmakers come from another country? Is the meter to measure the patriotism of film personalities in the hands of BJP? India as a whole is protesting. They have been preaching for some time asking some to go to Pakistan. Kamal said people like Kummanam should say such things in some other venues.
Kummanam had stated that the patriotism of the filmmakers and cultural activists was hypocrisy and that their loyalty was only towards acting. ‘You all will act. Now, a few people have come forward. Artists and social activists had staged a protest in Ernakulam yesterday. To whom are you people committed. For whom are you all arguing?
