KANNUR: In the wake of protests against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan during his speech at Indian History Congress, the governor summoned the vice-chancellor of the University of Kannur, Prof. Gopinathan, to Kannur guest house with full video footage of the occasion.

The governor mentioned he didn’t intend to make any controversial remarks and that the delegates at the History Congress was "intolerant." He started to talk out in opposition to protests in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act. He added that he wouldn’t help any legislation that threatens the structure. This was followed by vocal protests from the viewers.

Representatives attending the History Congress staged placards in opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act and protested on the venue. The governor said the protest should be peaceful and he is ready to discuss the matter at any time.
