THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Saturday stated that he did not intend to raise a controversy at the venue of the Indian History Congress conducted by the Kannur University. The governor made the statement through his official Twitter page.

In his tweet, the governor also stated that historian Irfan Habib tried to interrupt his speech by raising some points about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). 'Inaugural meet of Indian History Congress does not raise controversies. But at 80th session at Kannur University, Shri Irfan Habib raised some points on CAA. But, when Hon'ble Governor addressed these points, Shri Habib rose from seat to physically stop him, as clear from the video.' his tweet read.

The governor also released a set of pictures which show Irfan Habib attempting to interrupt his speech.

Earlier in the morning, several delegates of the Indian History Congress had staged against the governor after he spoke about the anti-CAA protests across various parts of the country.
