cpm-attack

VADAKARA: Two CPM members were arrested on Sunday for attacking the migrant labourers who participated in a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The accused have been identified as Illikkal Abhilash and Malayil Manoj, both natives of Kallachi near Nadapuram. The alleged incident occurred on December 19 when the migrant labourers Shafeequl Islam, Sha Abdullah and Azad Ul Mandal were attacked while they were returning after a protest march.

Meanwhile, the BJP leadership has alleged that CPM is directly involved in the crime. According to BJP state secretary VK Sajeevan, CPM has been conspiring to hold BJP responsible for the attack against the migrant workers. He also added that the accused members are CPM-sponsored goons who get involved in all sorts of criminal activities.

Earlier, the migrant workers had stated that they were attacked by a 5-member gang who hid their faces using masks. It is learnt that both Abhilash and Manoj were arrested after checking the CCTV footage obtained from the stores near Kallachi. The accused will be produced before the court on Monday.
