NEW DELHI: Latest reports suggest that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI is attempting to honey trap the soldiers of the Indian Army through social media. It is learnt that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the NIA to conduct an investigation regarding the matter.
"Pakistan intelligence agency ISI has prepared a big plan to trap the security forces personnel through honey trapping on social media," sources from the Home Ministry said. The ministry has also apparently handed over all honey trapping cases to NIA.
Earlier, the Counter Intelligence Cell in Andhra Pradesh had caught several honey trap cases that were found to have links with the neighboring country.
Earlier, the Indian Navy had issued direction to ban the use of smartphones and social networking platforms onboard ships and naval bases after seven navy personnel were arrested for allegedly leaking sensitive information to an espionage racket that has links to Pakistan.
