KOCHI: The crime branch filed a charge sheet against actor Suresh Gopi MP in connection with luxury vehicle tax evasion case in Puducherry. The charge sheet filed in the Thiruvananthapuram CJM court asserted that the statements are against the actor and he used fake documents for evading tax.
The actor’s PY 01 BA 999 Audi car was registered in Puducherry on January 27 in 2010. The actor who registered his vehicle in Puducherry to evade tax also concocted fake documents for permanent residency in Puducherry. The investigation found that the documents including rent agreement produced by the actor were fake.
The owners of the apartment where the actor was staying said they had never met the actor. The association members of the apartment also said the same thing to the investigating team. The notary lawyer who attested the document said that his signature and seal were forged.
The crime branch said they would slap the actor with charges of cheating, forgery and use of forged documents as genuine ones under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. The offences are non-bailable and carry a punishment of up to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fine.
