NEW DELHI: The much-awaited election date of the Delhi assembly was announced on Monday. The elections will be held on February 8. It was Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora who announced the election dates.

While the notification will be issued on January 14, nominations must be filed within January 25, the last day of nomination. The counting will take place on February 11.

It must be noted that the term of the current 70-member assembly will come to an end on February 22 In the 2015 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, had secured 67 out of the total 70 seats.
