Two youngsters drowned in Naranganam Idathukara canal while attempting to take bath in the canal. The deceased have been identified as Jibin Cheriyan (26) and Aneesh Kumar (27). Their friend, Sunil, managed to survive.

Both Jibin and Aneesh, natives of Naranganam, reached near the canal by 9 pm on Monday. According to Sunil, the water current was very strong that night and both the youngsters were unable to get back from the water.

The dead bodies were later discovered in a search led by police and fire force. The bodies are currently kept at the morgue of a private hospital after post-mortem.
