KOZHIKODE: Tests in Manipal Virology Institute confirmed an outbreak of H1N1 (swine flu) here in Anayamkunnu.

210 people from Anayamkunnu region sought treatment for fever in the past few days. As per the Health Department’s data, on Wednesday alone 34 people sought treatment. In the wake of the outbreak, a medical camp will be set up in the area under the guidance of Additional DMO.

The issue came to the notice of the Health Department as 163 students and 13 teachers of the Anayamkunnu Higher Secondary School got sick with a fever. Students from the nearby Govt. LPS School was also infected. A holiday was declared for the school for two days and the higher secondary school was shutdown till Friday.
