KASARGOD: Police have got intelligence report on gangs who lure girls to Bengaluru with marriage promises, abuse them sexually and subject them to love jihad.
The information regarding this was received by a team led by City Joint Police Commissioner Sandeep Patel, who had been investigating a complaint lodged by an 18-year-old girl.
A couple who is in the business field in Bengaluru got trapped after Karnataka police intensified their investigation.
The other day, Parappana Agrahara police arrested Bengaluru Electronic City Muny Redyy Layout resident Ansar (28). His wife is also in the police custody.
The modus operandi is vulnerable girls are lured with marriage offers and taken to Bangalore by youths of a particular community. They are then put up at a house, sexually abused and forced to convert to their religion.
Earlier, a Kasargod girl, who is a victim of love jihad, had met Karanataka Chief Minister B S Yedyurappa and handed over a complaint to him. She was also accompanied by Uduppi MP and BJP leader Shobha Karanthalaja.
Palakkad Cheuppulassery Rishab (23) had earlier got arrest for allegedly sexually abusing the girl. Ansar has given statement to the police that Rishab had reached their house with the girl and stayed there from December 1 to 6.
The Kasargod Town police had filed a missing case on December 2 based on her parents complaint that she was missing.
