THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has come out to slam Union government for allegedly neglecting Kerala while distributing flood relief funds to states.

Kodiyeri says on his Facebook page that the prime minister has the responsibility to give the explanation for overlooking Kerala’s concerns at the high power committee meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The Centre had promised that it would be with Kerala to mop up its tears but now what it is doing is rubbing chili on its eyes... This shows the extent of the Centre’s political vendetta towards Kerala” he wrote on his Facebook..

Kodiyeri also asks what have BJP leaders and Union Minister Muraleedharan got to say about this ridiculous action of the Centre.

Following the denial of funds, the Union government has also sent notice seeking the cost of rice distributed in flood relief camps.
The instruction is to pay immediately Rs 205.81 crore towards 89,540 metric tonne rice that was distributed freely during the 2018 floods in Kerala.

At that time BJP leaders and Union ministers had said that the rice was being distributed for free and now Food Corporation of India general manager has sent ‘MOST URGENT’ notice to State Disaster Management principal secretary, seeking payment.
