NEW DELHI: Supreme Court judge Arun Mishra came forward reacting on the demolition of Maradu flats built violating Coastal Regulation Zone norms. Mishra, who led the bench in ordering demotion of the flats said that he did it with immense pain. Mishra said that he had to act like that in order to eliminate illegal activities.
The state government had on Monday informed the Supreme Court that it has complied with its order and demolished four apartment complexes in Kochi's Maradu which were built in violation of coastal regulation zone norms. When the advocates informed this to the court, the judge said, that it was a painful decision.
A bench of justices Arun Mishra and M R Shah directed the state government to file a report with regard to removal of debris, which also fell in the backwaters. The bench then posted the matter for further hearing on February 10.
