KALPATTA: Police have found out that an Adivasi youth, who was found dead three years ago in Kalpatta, was strangled to death by a father and son. The accused, VE Thankappan and his son Suresh, have been arrested by the Crime Branch CID team. The Adivasi youth named Mani used to do labour works at the accused's home.

Mani was found dead on April 4, 2016. According to the officials, the accused murdered Mani after he demanded a hike in his wage. After strangling him, the accused placed a bottle of poison near his body to make it appear as a suicide.

However, the autopsy report of Mani showed that he was strangled to death. The case was handed over to the CB CID in 2018 after the investigation by local police failed to make any progress.
