THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bodies of the family who went for a pleasure trip to Nepal and which turned a tragedy have reached home. The bodies of the five from Chengottukonam reached Thiruvananthapuram late last night.

The mortal remains of Praveen Krishnan Nair, his wife Saranya Sasi and their three children reached Thiruvananthapuram from Delhi were handed over to Praveen’s brother-in-law Rajesh. The bodies were taken straight to medical college hospital and kept in the mortuary. The bodies were brought to Praveen’s house at Chengottukonam Friday morning at 7 am. A large crowd was witnessed to pay homage to the dead. People from all walks of life turned up to pay tributes. The funeral will be held at 10 am today. The funeral pyre will be lit by Saranya’s nephew.

The mortal remains of Ranjith Kumar of Adatholath Punathil in Kozhikode, his wife Indu Lakshmi and their son were taken to Calicut. The funeral of them will be held later at 5 pm..

They were part of 15 Indian nationals from Kerala who had checked into a resort in Daman, a popular tourist place in Nepal Monday night.

Though they had booked four rooms eight of them stayed in one room and turned on a gas heater to keep themselves warm. All eight people were found unconscious on Tuesday morning..

They were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment where doctors declared them dead. The post-mortem of all eight bodies was conducted at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu yesterday.
