THRISSUR: It was a protest with a difference at Paliyekkara toll booth, notorious for traffic snarls. The other day a daring woman who arrived at the joint in her car got flustered when she had to wait for a long time at the toll booth; the traffic was jammed as a number of car had queued up to pay toll.

The woman got off the car walked up to the toll booth and raised the stop barrier forcefully, braving warnings from booth operators. This continued for about 20 minutes when a number of vehicles passed through it without paying the toll.

During the time, the booth staff shouted at the woman and tried to take photos of her act on his mobile phone. In tussle that followed his as well as the woman’s phones fell to the ground and got damaged.

Puthukkad police who reached the spot eased the tension but said they won’t be able to file a case against the woman. On the other hand, the police asked her if she had any complaint against the toll plaza staff. As she didn’t have any complaint, police allowed her to go.

The woman is a native of Thiruvananthapuram. She reportedly reacted after she had to wait in the queue for more than 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, the rule says the toll booth should be kept open if more than six vehicles are in the queue.
