NEDUMANGAD: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed after she was run over by a speeding Taurus lorry near Nedumangad. The deceased is identified as Akhila (37), a native of Netta village in Nedumangad.

The accident occurred at Pazhakutty when the speeding truck attempted to overtake a jeep and went on to hit Akhila's scooter. Akhila, who got seriously injured on her head, was immediately taken to the Medical College Hospital. However, doctors stated that she had soon succumbed to the injuries.

Akhila is survived by her only son Hrishikesh (12). Her husband, Biju, had died 10 years ago.
