THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The congress-led opposition blocked the Governor as he arrived in the assembly to present his policy address, a customary convention to begin the session. The opposition trooped to the well of the house shouting slogans ‘Governor Go Back’. The opposition reached the assembly with placards to block the governor. The opposition trooped to the well of the house when the Governor was standing at the main entrance.

The watch and ward forcefully removed the opposition when they besieged the Governor. He later reached the speaker’s dais under the control of the watch and ward. He started his policy address amidst the opposition uproar. He addressed the assembly in Malayalam and expressed his gratitude to the members. In between this, the opposition shouted slogans and boycotted the assembly. The opposition are continuing their protests outside the assembly.

Meantime, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had informed the government that he will not mention the statements related to Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in his policy address. The governor had informed the chief minister in writing that he will not read the portions on citizenship issue in his address. This was after the government announced that it would not change the draft policy approved by the cabinet.
