Drishyam was a film that had given a fillip to Malayalam cinema industry. The film directed by Jeethu Joseph in 2013 had turned out to be Malayalam’s first film to have entered the 50-crore club. But by chance or otherwise, a number murders that happened in the ‘aftermath’ of Drishyam came to be called Drishyam-model murders as they had semblance with the murder picturised in the film Drishyam.

Now Alappuzha district police chief K M Tony says that Drishyam film had done big damage. He said this while addressing the audience at a function held at Alappuzha Press Club in connection with his retirement.

“I have been able to prove all cases. Not even one was there that could not be resolved. Some of the murders were ordinary ones while others had no proofs. All those have troubled me a lot. Drishyam film had also done a big damage.

For instance, in a case, the body was buried on the premises of the house of a person working in America. His house had a big compound. The accused jumped over the wall and buried the body. Decaying body was taken out on the 16th day,” he said.
