KATTAKKADA: Another person was arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a youth who opposed illegal sand mining in his plot. The arrested, identified as Sujith aka Manikuttan (34), residing in SP Bhavan in Maranalloor. An aide to the prime accused, Manikuttan is said to have facilitated the escape of an accused from the scene. Kattakada police inspector D. Bijukumar said the arrest was made on clear evidence.

Among the arrested, Vijin, Linu, Saju, Uthaman, Midhun, and Baiju are directly linked to the case. The rest assisted their escape. The police said that everyone who was associated with the crime would be arrested. The police were able to nab other accused through the statement of the JCB driver Vijin, who surrendered on the very next day of the crime.
