NEW DELHI: Coronavirus has been confirmed in Kerala. A Keralite student from Wuhan in China, was diagnosed with the virus and this was confirmed by the union health ministry. The student was studying in Wuhan University, China.

The student is admitted at an isolation ward in Thrissur General Hospital and is under the observation of a doctors’ team. The condition of the student is not so serious. Meanwhile, a number of people under observation in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi have been tested negative.

As per reports, 170 people have lost their lives following the virus. This is the first confirmed case in India. According to WHO criteria, the name of the patient and other details should not be disclosed. The virus was confirmed in India’s neighbouring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The state government has been informed about this. The state government has not made any official announcement on it. Health Minister K K Shailaja has called a high level meet soon after the reports came. She will address the media soon after the meet.
