NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her second budget in the parliament on Saturday. Rs. 15,236.64 crores has been allocated to Kerala as the state’s share of taxes and duties.

Cochin Port Trust (26.28 crores), Cochin Shipyard (650 crores) Coffee Board (225 crores), Rubber Board (221.34 crores), Tea Board (200 crores), Spices Board (120 crores) are among the beneficiaries. Rs. 10 crores has been earmarked for the ailing cashew sector. The plantation sector will see an allocation of 681.74 while the corresponding number for the fisheries is 218.4 crores.

A focus area of the budget has been the proposals to increase the disposable income of the common man. The budget announcements included a new tax regime with lower tax rates, disinvestment of LIC, and major initiatives in farming, education, and basic infrastructure sectors.
