KOCHI: At a time when the whole world is in state of corona contagion threat, a Chinese woman who reached Kochi is under the surveillance of the health department. The health department and the state police directed the 28-year-old woman not to leave the homestay in Kochi where she is accommodated.
The woman reached India on January 27 from Guangdong in China. She reached Kerala after visiting Varanasi. Meantime, Ernakulam DMO informed that there is no need to panic and that she was subjected for an examination at Bengaluru Airport.
Second case of coronavirus infection was confirmed in Kerala yesterday. A native of Alappuzha and a medical student in China was infected with the disease. The first case of the virus was confirmed on a native of Thrissur, also a medical student in China.
In the case of virus infection in Alappuzha, the centre gave permission to examine the blood samples at National Virology Institute adjacent to the district medical college hospital. The blood samples will be examined from today. Presently the blood samples are sent to the Virology Institute in Pune. The results will be obtained only after 3-4 days. The results will be obtained once tests start here.
