coronavirus-students

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan has said that all steps are being taken to bring back 21 Malayali students who got stranded in an airport in China, on their way to India.

“I have talked to Indian embassy officials in China over arranging a flight to take students back to India,” he said.

It is the students of Dalian Medical College who have got stranded in China’s Kunming airport. 15 students in the team are girls. They had booked tickets in Scoot Airlines to reach India via Singapore.

But when they reached the airport on Thursday, the airline operator informed them that they won’t be able to take non-Singaporeans via Singapore. In the wake of Coronavirus, there is prohibition in Singapore for passengers from China.

“The University hostel authorities gave us permission to return to India after taking an undertaking from us that we would not return to China very soon. Therefore we’ll not return to China soon,” the students said.
