MALA: Even when the whole world is at tenterhooks over Coronavirus scare, she did the duty at the isolation ward by personal choice. Braving the virus threat and turning a role model, Sandhya Jalesh had made a special request for the duty in the ward.

For the past ten days, she has been a solace and morale booster for dozens of people under observation for Coronavirus infliction. Even when her friends and family tried to dissuade him from tending to the people in the ward, she replied that it was her moral responsibility to clear misconceptions about coronavirus infection.

“We all have only one life… if it doesn’t become beneficial for others, what is the meaning of this life?” – before this question, her husband’s resistance melted.

Sandhya is also a literary talent. She says her experience in the hospital and sights in wards season her mind for writer’s mind in her. Amid her busy schedule, she could publish two novels.

The first novel ‘Nee Ente Sukrutham’ won Bhashasree award and the second novel Mazha Meghangale Kathu’ won Madhavikutty award. Chaupadi is the third novel and Mazha Nanaja Mandarangal, a collection of short story is the printing stage.

She entered the isolation ward in the beginning stage of her fourth novel. The work will be resumed only after she gets out of the Isolation ward. After nursing studies, she joined Thrissur Medical College in 2016.

She initially started writing on her Facebook page Ente Ezhuthu Pura. A resident of Kalamassery Nalleppilly, Sandhya has two children – Lakshmi and Amarnath.
