THRISSUR: A youth was found hacked to death at Athirappilly in Thrissur. He has been identified as Pradeep (39) of Thalattu House. The incident happened Friday early morning at 1.30 am near Athirappilly Kannankuzhy Bridge. Police said they suspect the hands of one Gireesh. Pradeep was the pump operator of Jalanidhi drinking water project. He was hacked when he was returning home after work. Though he was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

A verbal dispute broke out between the two Thursday evening. Pradeep had lodged a complaint against Gireesh after he threatened to kill him. Police had asked the two to appear in the station at 10 am for a compromise on Friday morning. In the meantime, he was hacked. Though police reached Gireesh’s house, he fled by crossing the river. The police has intensified a search for him.
