THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite a sharp increase in electricity charges from July last year, the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) on Saturday imposed a surcharge of 10 paise per unit for a period of three months. However., reports suggest that Commission is also considering to extend the surcharge for three more months.
The surcharge will have a huge impact on electricity charges as the upcoming months will see a huge increase in electricity consumption because of the severe heat.
The surcharge was imposed apparently to recover the additional expenses incurred by the KSEB. It is learnt that the board has demanded to impose a surcharge of 13 paise per unit.
