NEW DELHI: Hours after Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju invited Kambala jockey Srinivasa Gowda to participate in the trials for track events at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Gowda has come up declining the invitation. Gowda has apparently handed over a letter to authorities stating that he will not participate in the trials.
According to Gowda, he is currently focusing on Kambala and not interested in anything else. Earlier, the authorities had decided to conduct his trials in Bengaluru on Monday. It must be noted that the Kambala jockey from Moodabidri had stunned the entire nation by running 100 metres in just 9.55 seconds during a Kambala race at Aikala village near Mangaluru. Following this, several people came up comparing him with sprinter Usain Bolt and urged authorities to provide him training for track events.
