THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The home secretary dismissed the CAG report on the rifles missing from the state police department. The findings of the crime branch that no rifles are missing have been upheld. The home secretary submitted the report to the chief minister. The finding was that an error occurred in registering it.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had verbally directed home secretary (principal) Biswas Mehta to submit a report on it. Soon after the findings of the audit report stoked a controversy, more details on the irregularities emerged.
Crime branch chief Tomin Thachankary after examining the rifles clarified that the finding of the CAG that 25 INSAS rifles are missing is not true. The report of the crime branch will be presented before the panel. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC chief Mullapally Ramachandran stick to their demand of a CBI probe.
