KULATHUPUZHA: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will examine the bullets found abandoned at Kulathupuzha in Kollam. More examination will be conducted near the Muppathadi bridge at Kulathupuzha from where the bullets were recovered. The military intelligence have also started an investigation. An examination by the police armour and forensic departments have clarified that the bullets were made in Pakistan. It is suspected that they were made in Pakistan Ordinance Factory making bullets for Pakistan army.

The abbreviation of Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) was written in the bullets. 12 bullets were found in a pouch and two in separate covers. It was confirmed that the bullets are used by the army and police. The bullets were 7.62 mm used in long range machine guns. The investigation has been handed over to the anti-terror squad.


The bullets were found abandoned in a cover near the Muppathadi Bridge at Kulathupuzha in Kollam on Saturday. Joshy of Kulathupuzha and his friend Ajeesh of Thiruvananthapuram found the bullets in a plastic cover. The bullets were noticed when the suspiciously discarded cover was searched. They immediately informed the police. Police team, forensic and finger print experts, bomb squad and armoury section soon reached the spot. Top police officials are camping in the spot. Initial reports stated that it might have belonged to hunters who frequent the nearby forest.
