THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has decided to recover 65 cents of encroached land at East Fort from the Shree Vidhyadhiraja Sabha. An order regarding this was issued by the Revenue Principal Secretary on Saturday. Meanwhile, the order states that the temple in the area will be handed over to the trust. The action by the Revenue department comes at a point when the Chief Minister is all set to lay the foundation stone of the new cultural complex at the Theerthapada Mandapam.
It is learnt that the decision to construct the cultural complex was taken even before the trust obtained the 65 cents for lease. Though the trust believes that the High court judgment will be favourable for them, the revenue department has not issued permission for the construction. It must be noted that the trust had announced the construction of the memorial for Chattambi Swami on a land that has been referred to as disputed land by the government.
