PERINGANADU (ADOOR): Seven children who ran away with injuries from Chendampalli Swami Vivekanada Balashram have been admitted to Adoor General hospital. It was locals who took them to the hospital.
In connection with the incident, police have arrested Pongaladi Pallithundathil house resident Vijayakumar and Ranni Cherukulanji Karyattu house resident Ashok.
They were produced in the court and remanded in custody. Police said, among the proprietors, two more persons will have to be arrested.
Abhijit (16), Vishal (17), Akshay (17), Vyshnav (15), Sreeraj (16), Aaharsh (15) and Bijin (16) were who got the beating. The incident happened on Friday night at around 9:30. They were seen at Chenthampalli. Abhijit and Vishal had sustained serious head injuries.
“In the name of some past vengeance, the wardens had made us do tough jobs and beat us using chairs,” the children told the police.
District Child Welfare Committee representatives reached the hospital and recorded statements of the children. They will be shifted to a safe place once they are discharged. Child Welfare Committee will call an urgent meeting on Monday and take action. Children and relatives will take part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Balashramam authorities said these children used to do mischiefs in the ashram and the other day they destroyed a camera there.
