KOLLAM: The mystery behind the death of six-year-old girl Devanandha is strengthened by suspicions that she was abducted from her house. The police decided to conduct a probe on the suspicion of her relatives that someone close to the family may have abducted her from the house. There was suspicion from the beginning that how the girl walked 100 metres barefoot to reach the shore. She usually doesn’t go out without wearing slippers. She was found missing from her house while playing with her younger brother.

Her slippers were found in the hall itself. Sniffing upon her slippers, police tracker dog Reena went at the back of the house and then to a locked house nearby and then ran to the shore of the river. The investigating team is of the opinion that someone close to the family may have taken her away otherwise she would have panicked. She may not have worn the slippers because of that. The police have taken seriously the suspicion of the relatives that it is impossible for the child to walk the dangerous path without wearing the slippers.

Relatives raised suspicion on the child going missing unexpectedly while playing with her three-month old brother Devadathan in the hall. Police are now investigating who came home in a short time. The police have taken a list of those close to the house. Some will be questioned in the pretext of recording their statement. Police have recorded the statements of more than 100 and it is learned that four are under scanner. The police are closely watching their behaviour, phone calls and their presence in the area.

The report of the investigating team has mentioned that the child had left home and walked twice earlier. However, after that she had obtained advice from her parents and teachers. Later a matured behaviour was seen from her side. Just before she was found missing, she had gone to her mother Dhanya who was washing clothes outside. She scolded her and sent her back to look after her brother. The presence of someone is suspected. The investigation team is closely monitoring the suspects, as there is a strict mandate that scientific evidence and interrogation be done so that innocent people are not harmed.

There were no signs of using any force on her body. The post-mortem report mentioned that it was an accidental drowning. The child died soon after an hour she was found missing and this leads to a suspicion. A search was intensified soon after she was found missing. A search was conducted on the river also. The investigation team is on a vigorous effort to find the right answers to all these questions.
