THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Finance department has decided to allot Rs 315 cr immediately for the SupplyCo. Out of this, Rs 127 cr is for buying subsidy items and Rs 188 cr is for procuring paddy.
This is a respite for SupplyCo and farmers.
As the Corporation failed to get money from the government towards the sale of subsidy items, it plunged into a crisis. As it didn’t remit in banks money for procuring paddy, paddy farmers started getting notices.
Money was also due for mill owners.
As it is certain that the money will be allotted, the sale of subsidy items will resume soon. The paddy procurement will also resume as the money for it will be remitted in the banks.
The above action of the government has followed a report in Kerala Kaumudi that appeared on Monday.
The report said that the government will stall subsidy sale as the government has stopped financial help. It had also pointed out the plight of farmers.
