MALAPPURAM: Locals and ambulance driver came to the rescue of a woman found wailing on the road with the body of her baby. The baby was born to Sathyaraj and Usha, natives of Melmuthanoor in Tamil Nadu. The incident happened at the Manjeri medical college.

The couple was staying in a rented house at Valiyangadi in Perinthalmanna for the past five years. Usha’s mother was also staying with them. Usha became pregnant after a long wait. She was admitted at the Manjeri Medical College after she developed some physical difficulties at the seventh month.

She delivered a pre-mature baby. The baby died soon. With this, her husband abandoned her. She ran out of cash following hospital expenses. She didn’t know what to do with the body and was crying holding it. Ambulance driver Noufal noticed this and came to her rescue. With the help of the municipality chief, the body was cremated at the municipality crematorium.
