KANNUR: A college magazine that included sexual symbols has triggered a new controversy. The sleazy words and pictures have appeared in the magazine brought out by People’s Cooperative Arts and Science College in Kasargod.
The main allegation is that the magazine titled ‘Ura Marachathu’ was compiled by the SFI, which is heading the union administration in the college. The college is functioning under Kannur university. The magazine which contains sexually explicit contents has reference to sexuality, rape, menstruation and lesbianism.
The picture of a banana fitted into a condom, masturbation and menstrual blood flowing from a naked woman are also in the magazine.
It is alleged that the magazine reminded one of porn publications and women would find it repulsive even to turn its pages.
The ABVP and KSU have approached the prime minister, the governor and Kannur University VC. It is also alleged that reference in magazines are anti-women.
Meanwhile, Staff editor Anu Sebastian said that the magazine had been brought out in memory of the late dramatist and writer Girish Karnad.
