KOTTAYAM: Burglars broke opened four hundis of Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple Friday morning. The burglars broke open the hundis of the temple and decamped with the cash available in it. There was also an attempt to break open another hundi. However, the burglars were not able to enter the inside of the temple. The incident happened Friday early morning at 1.45 am. Cash were stolen from the hundi kept on two sides of the entrance and one kept at the side of the flag mast. One of the two hundis kept at the side of Ayyappa idol was found broke open. There was an attempt to break open the lock of the other one, but could not. It has not been assessed how much money has been lost. The hundi was not opened after Sivarathri. It is therefore concluded that more money will be in the hundi.
District police chief G Jayadev, DySP Sreekumar, Kottayam West circle inspector M J Arun, East circle inspector Nirmal Bose reached the spot. Dog squad too inspected the spot. Finger print experts have collected evidence. Though the picture of the burglars have been captured in the CCTV camera, it is not clear. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA visited the temple.
